Caldwell-Hohl Artworks by Bill Hohl
Caldwell-Hohl Artworks by Bill Hohl brings a distinctive creative perspective to Ocracoke Lighthouse Gallery/Ocracoke Lighthouse Taxidermy through driftwood art shaped by experience, intuition, and a deep respect for natural materials. Bill’s work reflects the eye of a multimedia artist and the organic character of the driftwood itself.
An Artist’s Journey to Driftwood
After 20 years as a multimedia artist in Seagrove, North Carolina, working in ceramics, metal, and glass, I have found my medium. Driftwood allows me to collaborate with the material in an inspirational way.
Inspired by the Material
Each piece begins with the unique qualities of the driftwood. Its shape, texture, and movement guide the creative process, allowing the finished work to feel both natural and intentional. Bill’s background in multiple mediums gives his driftwood artwork depth, balance, and sculptural interest.
Natural Form, Artistic Expression
Caldwell-Hohl Artworks adds another layer to the gallery’s collection of driftwood and porcelain sculptures. Bill’s pieces celebrate the relationship between artist and material, offering visitors artwork that feels grounded in nature and shaped by experience.
